Asian Arts New York Awarded NYSCA Grants
Asian Arts New York (AANY) is proud to announce that we have been awarded the 2026 NYSCA Support for Organizations grant.
As a newly funded nonprofit organization, AANY is honored to work with New York Folklore as our fiscal sponsor and to be recognized by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) for our commitment to Asian arts and cultural programming.
We are also pleased to share that several Asian Arts New York featured artists have received 2026 NYSCA Support for Artists and Artist & Apprentice grants, including: Linghui Tu, Wenrui Shi, Liying Ye, Sandra Balint, Anping Liu and Richard Wang. Congratulations to all the artists, and heartfelt thanks to NYSCA for its continued dedication to supporting artists and cultural organizations across New York State.

Journey of Love and Hope — A Peking Opera Musical
A powerful story of love, courage, and hope, Journey of Love and Hope is an unforgettable fusion of Peking Opera and Western classical opera, featuring Tibetan dance and live music. The production and rehearsals were featured in various media previews, highlighting the creative vision behind the work:

AANY Comptroller Received “Volunteer of the Year” ICCR Award
Asian Arts New York is proud to celebrate our Comptroller and Board Member, Peter Balint, who has been honored as Volunteer of the Year by the International Center of the Capital Region (ICCR).
Born in Budapest, Peter came to the United States as a refugee and Holocaust survivor. His moving memoir, The Shoe in the Danube, reflects on his immigrant journey and the universal search for hope, identity, and belonging. Peter has shared his story through lectures and talks around the world, inspiring countless audiences.

Festival Of Nations
Congratulations to Xiuyi Hu (Miss China) on being crowned Miss FON! She stood out and claimed the title with her natural, radiant smile, insightful eloquence, and elegant, well-poised presence. Congratulations as well to Miss Korea and Miss India on placing in the Top Five. (photo by Yingjiang Wen)
Festival Of Nations (FON) is one of the Capital Region’s largest multicultural celebrations, featuring international food, crafts, performances, and the Miss FON pageant. Asian Arts New York President Wei Qin attended the annual Festival of Nations every year: “I can’t miss this event for all the wonderful features—especially the delicious, authentic food from communities around the world,” said Wei Qin. She was honored to be photographed with Manoj Ajmera, Chairman of the Festival of Nations, Albany Legislator Dustin Reidy and Congressman Paul Tonko.

The Art of Asia: Tradition Meets Today
Asian Arts New York’s First Fundraising Event
Asian Arts New York successfully hosted its first fundraising event, The Art of Asia: Tradition Meets Today, bringing together stunning visual art by Asian artists, authentic performances, and exceptional cuisine. The evening welcomed a joyful and diverse audience from across the Capital Region and marked an important milestone for the organization.
Special thanks to Governor Kathy Hochul for her heartfelt letter, Assemblymember Gabriella Romero for the citation, Congressman Paul Tonko for his generous donation, and Albany County Legislator Dustin Reidy for his remarks.

Richard Wang: “Meditation through the brush”
Asian Arts New York featured calligraphy master Richard Wang was interviewed by Times Union, sharing his years of experience and deep understanding of this ancient art form and its meditative benefits. “The world stills when Richard Wang’s ink-soaked brush hits rice paper,” wrote reporter Katherine Kiessling.

AANY Musicians with Governor Hochul
Asian Arts New York musicians and President Wei Qin were honored to perform at the Governor’s Mansion during the AAPI Heritage Reception hosted by Governor Kathy Hochul. On the same day, Wei Qin and Asian Arts New York featured artist—and President of the Korean Association of Albany—Milim Parker also performed at the AAPI Heritage Month Summit hosted by Assemblymember Grace Lee.

AANY President Wei Qin Honored by Senator Patricia Fahy
Alongside other AAPI leaders, Wei Qin, President of Asian Arts New York, received a proclamation from Senator Patricia Fahy recognizing her vision and dedication to cultural preservation. Senator Fahy highlighted Wei’s leadership in advocating for Lunar New Year recognition as a statewide holiday and her efforts to elevate AAPI visibility through media and public engagement.

AANY President Wei Qin Recognized by Assemblymember Gabriella Romero
Wei Qin received a floor introduction from Assemblymember Gabriella Romero in recognition of her contributions to the local Chinese community and her leadership in promoting cultural heritage across the Capital Region. Assemblymember Phil Steck, who nominated Wei as a 2024 Woman of Distinction for New York’s 110th District, also attended to offer congratulations.

The Altamont Enterprise Features Asian Arts New York Artist
Team of Asian Arts New York artist presented Tai Chi fan and Dragon Dance performances at Guilderland High School’s Annual Cultural Fair, engaging and entertaining hundreds of students. The event was featured by The Altamont Enterprise on April 17, 2025.
